I completed the four basic ages and returned to cleft for Yeesha's final message, yesterday. I got the linking book, a shirt, and a Relto page.
Today, I went back to the cleft but not down inside. I wanted to see if I could jump either of the fences. I could! I was able to climb part way up the volcano before falling into the abyss.
I was able to go outside the perimeter fence and walked (ran) until there was no scenery left. I then turned around and returned to my starting point. I was able to walk through the fence heading toward the volcano but not outbound. Same thing for the volcano fence. I had to go over the fence to go uphill but could walk through the fence coming back down.
I posted a Ki photo on the CoD main imager from a float-jump of the crater.
So much for my walk in the dessert.

Re: One way fence!
@ Calroger,
That's the way the collision walls are made
.
You are been kept inside the area within the 2 fences (volcano & desert). So the volcano fence is impossible to cross going toward the volcano (impossible without cheating with jump command) and the desert fence is impossible (in the sunny cleft) to cross going toward the desert.
That's the reality in all ages. Each collision wall has 2 sides. What we call "elevators" are always on the "other" side of a collision wall. A lot of people don't have the notion of 3D modeling at all. They think...oh I found an elevator, i'm lucky...well sorry NO you're not lucky
it was the evidence since you jumped on the collision wall coming from a spot on the other side.
Or people seeing someone standing on top of a collision wall and saying: "How come are you floating/walking/whatever action on air?" Where do you see I'm floating/walking/whatever action... on air?... I'm standing on a solid spot as solid as the spot you're standing on on the ground level.
Collision walls & solid planes (boxes around objects) are invisible. They are solid though. The desert fences are just collision walls. There's a clear distinction to make also between the visuals and the physicals in any age. What's more confusing also is the gap that can be between the visual objects and the physicals (invisible objects) linked to them.
For example, the desert fences have each 2 objects attached to them: one is the collision, one is the visual. This is why in many ages, the "gap" makes the relto drowning an easy thing because explorers tend to follow the visuals where they should follow the physicals.
-----
Note that not every collision walls can be climbed from the other side (aka elevator) or can be climbed on the whole surface.

Re: One way fence!
I've done a lot of modeling for Microsoft Train Simulator. In MSTS those boxes around train cars and locomotives are called bounding boxes and they determine how those items interact with each other and with the scenery. I have modeled quite a few structures for MSTS but nothing in the model determines the solidity. That characteristic is determined by the MSTS editor when the object is put in place and you choose solid or not. It is called collision properties.
I wasn't really surprised by the fences I was more surprised by how far I could go outside the perimeter fence. As I said, I went until there was no more scenery. I don't know how much farther I could have gone. I was worried about losing sight of the volcano and not being able to find my way back!
Did you see the photo I placed on the CoD imager? I'm kind of proud of that!

Re: One way fence!
Ah ok...
Well the whole theoric speech about collisions & 3D wasn't toward you but general statements about average explorer's understanding.
You could have run up until the edge of the visual ground. The reason behind this extensiveness is a feature not yet re-implemented in MOUL environment: the URU Easter Egg. In URU:CC or on alcugs shards (DI, UAM, TOC TPOTS) or Until URU offline (the best way because it's not bugged at all), you can ride the Zandoni. If you run in the rainy desert outside the fences (you can jump quite easily in the hole above the barrier next to the "NO TRESPASSING" panel, you will come across a trailer with Zandi in a driving posture.)
DO NOT go near, you will get stuck because in MOUL environment we can't drive the Zandoni. In the above-mentionned versions you can drive it
.
The difference between the bugged alcugs shards & URU:CC version and the unbugged Until URU offline version is that in the latter if you crash the Zandoni which is something fun to do and the whole purpose is that, nothing funny to drive the trailer if you can't have an accident
, if you crash, i was saying, you just press spacebar and you're good to go yet again
. On the bugged version, it's not even Relto time, it's ALT+F4 time.

Re: One way fence!
You made me do it! I went back out there in the rain and found Zandoni machine and got stuck! I did the same thing in dry desert and no Zandoni. I kept running past the mountains and eventually fell off the edge of the earth! You thought the earth was round, didn't you. Well, it's flat and I fell off the edge! Go figure!

Calroger you are...like a child
Yeah the New Mexico is a flat land. You wouldn't think that, would you?
Also you might have noticed that the bushes are in 3D in the intended normal area and the more you are going toward the edge of the desert the more they become fake
