Cave Entrance??

Post by calroger »

I have been playing in TOC for a couple years and have been almost everywhere numerous times. However, I have never found or even seen the cave entrance. Does anyone know if it exists and if so, where is it? I know I have too much time on my hands, LOL, but it occurred to me that this is a cave and caves have entrances in the outside world.

I know this is crazy but if there is no cave entrance, this might be an interesting project for "maintenance crew" to consider, both to create the entrance, and to give subtle hints as to its location.

Cheers,
Cal

Just a quick link for you in a hurry: http://www.mystwiki.com/wiki/Great_Shaft

That's the only "physical" entrance I know - but who knows all secrets of D'ni ... 8-)

Now this might just be my misguided interpretation, but if you are in TPOTS and you have Myst V installed,
Spoiler:
and you climb the volcano in the cleft, there is an entrance to the very top of the shaft.
Could this be it?? If this is not correct, I apologize in advance. Happy gaming!

I went to TPOTS and tried your suggestion. After climbing the mountain and jumping in, after a couple bumps and falls, I found myself in a familiar MYST location (also accessible from a Relto linking book) . From there I was able to access the great shaft. However, I was not able to get very far down the path in the shaft without falling.

As far as I know, none of this is available in TOC.

NOTE--I tried to keep this description intentionally vague so as not to constitute a spoiler.

I don't have a way to attach an image or I would attach them here to be sure. Roger, do you have a KI number for your TPOTS avatar? If so, I could send the images to you. Mine is 54979.
