Aaaannnnddd... looks like we've hit the infamous uru cc sound issue. Relto is just static, Cleft is static after awhile, and surprisingly enough the fan ages work fine. Help?

I Just checked my install of OFFLINE CC (the GOG version) and I am using the 2.5.8. wrapper version and the engine I use for this OFFLINE version is 1.5.0. Yes, there is a SLIGHT crackle in Relto when you turn the avvy but not that unbearable static you have now.

I assume you're on Mavericks 10.9.4. so try changing the engine to 1.5.0 by first starting the Wineskin Winery App and click the + button and select 1.5.0. engine then click "download and install".

Close the Winery after the install.

Then:

1) Right click on your CC Offline Wrapper and choose "Show contents"
2)You should have three things in there: (i) Contents (ii) drive_c (an alias) and (iii) Wineskin
3) Double click Wineskin (you may need to do it twice) and the Wineskin menu window appears
4) choose "Advanced"
5) choose "Tools"
6) choose "change engine used"
7) Using the drop down, select 1.5.0 and click ok.
Once the wrapper has changed the engine... visit Relto and cross your fingers!

Success! I'm actually running 10.6.8 but it doesn't seem to have mattered. Thanks a million boblishman. Sonavio looks great on a Mac.

Of course things get more difficult when you actually try to play the game. I can usually go for about ten minutes at a time, then I click on something (cloth, link, never the same thing twice) and I get an access violation that makes the game crash. When I relaunch, sometimes my progress is saved, but usually I have to start from scratch, intro and all.

This is where it's difficult for me to comment because my Mac is new and running Mavericks. If I get the occasional stack dump then I make sure I'm not running anything unnecessary in the background, and I always restart my machine, especially if I've been using Wineskin to run other shards or games. Sometimes I get a stack dump even before the game starts properly and the only solution is a complete shutdown and restart. Once the stack dumps start, restart your machine.

Btw, yes, I was surprised myself when I first saw Sonavio on the Mac, especially at a higher resolution than I was used to on Windows and, of course, the amazing monitor on the iMac.

I'm not sure if I'm supposed to tell you yet but I believe that there may be some new improvements to a Sonavio in the pipeline, but, as I'm not doing them myself, I don't have any kind of timeframe for them. As soon as I know something definite I'll let you know.

I was able to avert most issues once I replaced the sav file with the one from my Windows installation, seems pretty stable for now. Glad to hear about the possible new developments, always looking forward to something new with the fan ages.

Another tip: go back into the Wineskin /Advanced (as above) and untick "decorate windows" in the screen options section. Some Mac users (mostly on older machines an OSXs) say this is a must though I'm not exactly sure what this does!

You shouldn’t need to restart, just to kill Wine processes. In the Wineskin app inside the wrapper, under Advanced, there should be a Kill Wine processes button. Keep in mind that that will close everything running under Wine (e.g. Winebottler).

The Decorate Windows option sometimes produces a blank box where there should be a (usually useful) alert box. I left it on for MOULa and off for Uru:CC.

It seems we're going to do this every time there's an update. Sorry to be so troublesome. This time it downloaded the UruLauncher.exe.tmp and seemed to replace the old one by itself, seeing as there's no .tmp file in the install folder, but now when I hit launch it always comes back with "UruExplorer.exe has encountered a serious problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

EDIT:

FIXED IT: USE ENGINE 1.7.18.

The latest update now works on Engine 1.7.18 flawlessly, the same one I use on the Gehn Shard.

Download the 1.7.18 engine, run it and the TOC-MOUL updater runs again... and fixes everything ... :D :)

I just logged in and links, graphic, sound are all working perfectly. :P

IGNORE THIS:
Yes... it's well and truly broken.

Tried for about an hour with no luck. Wineskin gives this as the reason:

Code: Select all

fixme:advapi:RegisterTraceGuidsW (0x6ea19d, 0x0, {f7b697a3-4db5-4d3b-be71-c4d284e6592f}, 7, 0x75069c, (null), (null), 0x750ad0,): stub
fixme:process:GetNumaHighestNodeNumber (0x33fbd8): stub
wine: Unhandled exception 0x40000015 at address 0x7bc9001b:0x00717676 (thread 0026), starting debugger...
Process of pid=0025 has terminated
No process loaded, cannot execute 'echo Modules:'
Cannot get info on module while no process is loaded
No process loaded, cannot execute 'echo Threads:'
which means absolutely nothing to me except, of course, that I cannot play on the TOC-MOUL Shard now.[/color]
