load delays

Post by Hawkster »

Seems lately the loading of the program has slowed way down it take about 20 minutes to get in the game because of these delays and the last few updates seem to have slowed it down even more. I sit on a very fast ISP at 50 mps and your downloads are crawling in. What have you done to slow this down?

just to say it's fine for me - there was a lot to download for the 2.15 update but it wasn't especially slow and when I did a couple of test log-ons just now, each took only a couple of minutes.

But you reminded me of a discussion on the Gehn forum - "Loading global takes a very long time". Could there be similar issues on TOC?

Is it possible that your monitor's refresh rate is set at a value lower than 60 Hz? This is the refresh rate I've been using for a very long time, so it's very possible there are bugs that I've just never seen with lower refresh rates.

I could just log in within a minute as always (like on Gehn shard), it really didn't take even two minutes to be completely logged in with my avatar on Relto ... My refresh rate is at 60 Hz, my ISP is quite fast, but not too fast I believe, a normal DSL broadband connection (I know what I'm paying for and I know there are much faster connections available) ... I just had to look, it says 100,0 Mbit/s ... :D

Hi, Hawkster, I don't know what you need to know exactly ... My ISP is 1&1 and I have a wired FritzBox DSL Router running, I love that as it's more reliable than WLAN etc ... :P

I've taken 2 screenshots of my FritzBox DSL info and my LAN network in the control panel, whereas some of the numbers are changing moment by moment of course ... I hope this tells you however what you've been asking for ... :)

So you are running a e1 line and we run a T1 line with a 1000 Base t nic. so it throughs the byte off lowering the speed.

Not sure if it has anything to do with connection speed. My internet is incredibly slow (3g+) and I need hardly a minute to link into TOC.
...I wonder how long it would take if I used the GSM setting.

From start to finish it can take 25 minutes to get to the cod. A real long time and others say they have trouble too. It seems the farther, away the slower it is. I know when I worked on a internationial network we had to watch the speed of the network because if they mismatched it cause them to come to a crawl. E1 lines go faster than t1 lines. If I remember right a 2 E line is as fast as a T3 line (I believe) I have a 50 mps line Witch screems

I don't have any problem, either. Entering the game, as Captain says, hardly takes a minute, and linking into COD is immediate.
The Open Cave was a bit crashy back in 2011 but it has improved a lot with time.

Now here a detailed explanation why loading may take longer

If this screen appears:

Loads the Python Pack. Here it is depends on how fast your Internet connection is

If one of these screen:

If one of the two longer than it takes for 1-2 minutes is probably the "screen refresh rate" under 60 Hz.
It is not important how fast is your Internet connection. As well as what age you join
