Freezing up while going from place to another

Seems just lately I been having trouble with the going from one place to another. The screen most of the time turns black and just sits there. Some times I can get lucky and do an Alt control delete and task manager and it will start back up but most time it does not move off the black screen and then some times during the uploading of files it will just stop. In half the cases I have to do a dirty close and start the TOC back up.
