Crashes -- The Plague of TOC-Moul

Forget it, Annabelle ... nobody is listening anyways lol ... What I've said above
I've been hinting to so often already and in many places, but nobody seems to
even read it lol, cause so many are still again and again reporting to have the
same issues without at least even having considered to follow your hints ...

No, really, only one last time again and very short ... If anyone ever and really wants
to get rid of all the above mentioned hassle, just stop installing your games and
stuff on your C drive ... and enjoy your more easy computer life ...

Annabelle, I wonder though, why you still had to ckeck any compatibility mode and
assign special administrator rights to yourself with your UAC turned off ...

I really appreciate how you are trying to find a solution to the crashes but I honestly doubt there is THE solution for everything. You can indeed try compat, admin, UAC deactivation and other partitions but I do not think this will fix every issue per se.

If a program crashes, number one suspect should always be the program code itself. The steps you all mentioned are a great way of troubleshooting and finding a workaround to get it to work better but I consider something a good program if you do not have to do so.

What do I want to say with that?
1) The CWE Client is a strange thing and seems to act differently on many systems. It may still be the main problem leading to the crashes. Unfortunately, I still have no idea what is causing the TOC/CoD crashes, especially if only some have them, so it's hard to fix the client.
2) Please stop praising something as THE fix for EVERY issue (cause that's what I read in the last posts) if it works for you but not necessarily for everyone else. Let it be a recommendation.

UAC has nothing with Administration rights or compatibility modes. UAC is only these stupid (as Annabelle said) questions "do you want to do...."

By default, freshly created users are NOT administrators at Win 7. They are users on that PC with the rights to istall and all that, but they are not administrators.
The main problem is from that Microsoft tried to implement some unix concepts in windows.... which of course doesn't lead to nothing good.
Everyone who had a deal with Windows server 2008 in command prompt mode knows what i mean.

Windows is badly built... In order to have it working without any crash I need to do this. And thanks for the "don't install on the C drive" advise but that's all what I've got for now. My other drives are for storage mainly. C only holds programs and few usual files that I need to access on a nearly daily basis.

Hehe, I always think that people nowadays have enough space on their huge harddisks to
arrange space for many partitions and purposes ...

You are of course perfectly right, there is not One or The solution for all, and I've mentioned
something similar in my second last post and most of the time as well ... and the systems are
as varied and different as there are people maintaining and operating them ...
Poor, poor shard operators lol ...

Preventive measures being taken or hints/tips being followed can only serve to try and find out
what might serve my/his/her system well or might fit with my/his/her specific configuration ...

Yeah I did that with my old PC. I made 2 partitions. I nearly lost my mind...

I prefer paying for internal/external harddrives. The last 3Tb hard drives I bought lately costed less 150 Can $ each with all the taxes.

This makes me want to spin an XP VM and run TOC-MOUL and other favourites on that instead.

Just to clarify - XP doesn't have UAC!

Windows 7's XP VM works pretty good. I never tried running games in it though.

I always had at least 3 or 4 partitions, right now I have 7 plus the C drive, and I'm so happy with that 'system' ...

I also have an external hd for backups, which is neatly organized and partitioned the same way as my main disk, of course ...

After experiencing a crash this morning on the boat, I thought about what I had done up to that point. It occurred to me that it might not be what you have done prior to the crash but rather how much you have done from a processor standpoint. I don't have direct evidence to support this theory but I am thinking stack overflow. Perhaps the stack size needs to be increased by about 50%. Now knowing that there are probably several stacks involved in the operation of the game, I have no idea which one might be involved. Something to think about...
