An Installer that Installs

Post by Alien »

Hi TOC Team,

I apologise if this post seems a bit rude, I don't mean it to be.

I know you guys are busy, and I know you are also very helpful to people who have problems with TOC,
I have lost count of how many times you have helped me.
But isn't it about time you made an installer that installed everything?

After my problem with MSVCR100. dll (discussed in another thread) which I still haven't solved,
I spoke to many others who also can't get TOC to install.

If Cyan can make an installer that installs everything, and GoW can also make an installer that installs everything,
isn't it about time the TOC team had an installer that installs everything?
All this messing about after you've installed TOC is, tbh, unacceptable.

Like I said, you guys are busy and you do great things with TOC,
but you really need an installer that installs everything.
I think if you manage it, more people will play.

Well, I don't know if we can easily install everything (because of licensing issues). The only thing we can do is that the installer downloads the required things from the internet and then install it, but this is not really easy.

Well, I tried to make a new installer... In theory it should now check if you have installed the prerequires. If not it will download and install them autometically. As I said: in Theory. I don't know exactly if it really works, but you can try it out as soon as the new installer is uploaded.
I also made a secound installer, which installes more files as the normal one. So you only have to download around 30 MB after installation.

I will inform you when the new installer is live.

EDIT: But this shouldn't solve your problem with MSVCR100.dll... It would be nice if it works, but I don't think so, cause you said, that you already have installed the C++ Runtime...
