COD is really unstable right now

Post by Annabelle »

Hello :D

I wouldn't log in COD for a while if I were you  It's seems the age can't stand too much of Annabelle and friends presence. I might have crash at least 20 times in past 40 minutes. I ain't going back there for sure ;). Mr. Rosenqvist won't be really happy  .

Seriously though, you should reboot the server to clean up the age. We just run and crash right now...

Some people crash a lot in COD (like me) and some don't crash much, if at all.
If I recall correctly, the TOC team would love to know why this is.

I am careful in COD, I walk to places in 1st person view and find that helps.

It might has to do with something else.

I realized that I played all night without crashing and suddenly to kill my urge to go to bed, I start internet radio. Then I started crashing, crashing,...,crashing for a 20th time. So I think it has more to do with my internet connection than with the server itself.

I will play my own music next time instead of using bandwith for that.

For now the only way which seems to help a bit is to use compatibility mode (if you have Win7) and run Uru as administrator. I would suggest to start with the compatibility mode Win XP SP2. Scarchu said he use compatibility mode with Win 98 and he doesn't crash anymore. Maybe you could also try to run Win7 in compatibility mode with Win7 (I know this sounds stupid, but maybe it helps...)

I am now searching for the problem, but either I find nothing or I get messages, which I can't interpret...

EDIT: Everything I found so far is, that a data structure (heap) is damaged. But I don't exactly know what a "heap" is and I don't know why it's damged.

I found this on the Internet and although I have no idea what the person is talking about, I was hoping it could help you.

P.S. Forgive me, I did not read the whole acticle as I get lost in this computer lingo. You will see that the article is quite lengthy.
