Maybe it's a condensation of evaporated lake water, freezed by lower temperature in higher areas (close to the surface). Or, maybe it is just a piece of good magic.

It must be the same magic that makes it rain in some areas!

It would fit SO MUCH BETTER if they made the fog in the City white, but that's just me....

You can change the fog colour to your liking with /fogcolor

The "/fogcolor" command no longer works. It hasn't worked for several months. It reports "You are in a locked age. Some KI commands are disabled."

Ah yes. I forgot. I think it was disabled because of the pellets lightmeter.
