Cone in the elevator

I thought I would see if I could transport a cone to the disco using the elevator. After much effort, I got a cone moved into the elevator. I pushed the Up button and the cone vanished. When I got to the second level, the doors opened and I looked around...no cone. I got back into the elevator and went back to the ground level. As soon as the elevator stopped, the cone reappeared. I infer from this that the physics of the cones are tied to the fixed environment and not moveable transport devices. If we ever get the boat back, I would like to try taking a cone on the boat and see what happens. Maybe I can try that in TPOTS

I tried in MOULa to get a cone from upstairs after you cross that plank, through the crack and into that gap before you run into the moving wall.
It would not, no matter what I did, go through the crack into the corridor

I just tried a test in TPOTS. I was able to move a cone out onto the dock and within about a foot of the gate to the boat. At that point the cone froze and became soft. I was able to walk through it but could not move it. That was with the gate closed and the boat out on the lake. I exited the game and restarted. The boat was docked and the gate open. However, I still can't move the cone but I can walk through it. This is strange!!

These phenomena are coded. It's the same as the wooden plank in the Cleft. There's no way to get it out by the main door of the imager room. In the objects themselves, they coded a limit which is different that ours. Each object has a limit no matter what. Take the sound effect for instance (an object BTW). If you go on the stalagmite range in COD and run toward the Arch, half way pass the channel after the library, you'll loose every sounds: no footsteps, no background sounds. Even avatars have limit...the panics out we get when we go too far under any given age for instance.
A limit to an animated object like a cone can also be a subworld region for example an elevator, a boat...
You may not see why and it might be hard to understand, i'll explain nevertheless. A subworld region might or might not be where you think visually it is. Let's take the outdoor sceneries in Gahreesen. When outdoors, you see hills, trees, rocks, river, the huge fortress, the 6 rotating bridges and the upper rotating platform over the 1st building. In fact there are 3 distinct areas separate apart by miles of black void... You have to warp litteraly between them to get going. Visually, it's seemingless. You jump from 1st subworld (upper platform) to the general scenery to a 2nd subworld (rotating bridges).
If a cone (a different object than an avatar obvsiouly) is not coded to do those warp, then... it ignores completely the subworld region and stay at the edge of the main region...

Thanks for your explanation, Annabelle. However, that doesn't seem to explain why in TPOTS, the cone "froze" and became soft. Following your logic, I should be able to move it back where it came from. However, it is stuck. It won't move.

I found the cone in the elevator in COD. I bumped and it went through the elevator side wall--and so did I. I wasn't sure where I was for a second but then I figured I was on the outside of the elevator car--I walked back in and rode it just fine.

Now I know what happened to that cone. I went back to look for it as I wanted to try some other experiments with it. Anyway, it was nowhere to be found. Do you know which side of the car it is on and do you think it can be retrieved? If you can tell me where it is, I will try to get it.

I found the cone but I can't figure out how to retrieve it. Facing the back wall of the elevator, the cone is trapped just outside the left wall. If I float and move about two feet through the left wall, I can see the cone. However the solid floor only extends about a foot outside the elevator. I can nofloat just outside the wall but I can't move around.
The loss of this cone is no big problem, but I would like to figure out a way to retrieve objects from "out of bounds". Maybe Anabelle has some ideas.

Sometimes animated objects like cones or marbles get into a "limbo". They vanish into the floor as you kicked them. The objects disappear. Maybe that's the phenomenon that occured. The cone disappeared. It can take an age update to make it reappear back to its initial position. Depending on how COD was coded it should be at a given lapse of time after the last age update (not talking about pushed updates by admin team). This is why if you push all your marbles in the void at your Relto, you'll always find them back on next login.
In MOULa, if you push the rocks and logs in the void in Phil's Relto, you just have to wait few minutes and they will pop in back to their initial location. So maybe your "missing" cone is just back to where it should be.

I actually do not really know how it works on TOC since I never tested it but the age server shuts down 3 minutes after the last player has left. I suppose the cones come back with the next joining player.
