Hello, moderators.

As you surely know, from the title of this topic, I'm having trouble logging in.

I have already fixed a couple of problems with the launcher before I hit this wall. The problems I mention were the C++ 2010 being absent and the DirectX 9 update needing installing. After solving these problems by checking the forums and some 'encouragement' from an ingame friend, I created a game account. However, I kept receiving this error so I decided to use the repair tool to clear the login cache but alas to no avail.

I then proceeded to do a password reset. This went as expected and I clicked the link in the e-mail I received and continued to reset the password. The process ended with the message "your password has been activated". However, I still receive the same error message of 'Authentication Failed. Please try again. Invalid account name or password.

The account name is obviously correct or I would not be able to reset my password. I'm also 100% certain I'm entering the correct password. I've entered it manually and I've also copy and pasted it into the login screen but with the same error, over and over. I've tried at least 30 or 40 times. A solution to this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Please send me (or another Moderator) a PM with your Username/Email you used to register for the game. We will take a look if the account exists.

Anti spam measure. Please write another posting in this thread and then try again. You need 3 postings before you can send pms, I guess. (If I remember correctly.)

I have done as requested and reset my password to a different one, for the second time. However, I'm receiving the same error. Every time I've created the password, I've been especially careful to enter it correctly, even though I'm no novice at doing this. Is there a certain amout of time I need to wait before the password is recognised by the system?

I would suggest to wait some time (until tomorrow). Some problems solve themself with the time... If it still doesn't work maybe try to make a password you can't enter wrong (e.g. 0000 or aaaa). If it works then you always entered the wrong password, otherwise we get a problem...(Don't forget to change you password back after this try)

I'm sorry, but I don't know how I can help you anymore. I told you the exact steps how to reset your password. I have even tried it twice myself and it worked both times. There is no waiting time, once the new password is created, it's active. Here are the steps for anyone to try:

1. Go to http://the-open-cave.net/index.php/en/retrieve-password , enter your email address and click create new password
2. Wait for the activation email and click the link at the bottom of the email.
3. Enter your NEW PASSWORD twice. (If there's already something written in the first data field, delete it and type in your new password.)
4. Click "Create new password" and you're done.



Make sure your caps lock is not active while typing and remember that the password is case sensitive.
