The Great Shaft -- Where do we go from here?

In MOULa, jumping into the Great Shaft takes one to K'Veer which then leads to Myst Island. in TOC, jumping into the great shaft gets you a nice, albeit brief, view of the shaft as you panic link back to Relto. Are there any plans to add anything to the Great Shaft or do I need to keep exploring and come back and check it out from time to time?

I surmise that the group of people working on this project is rather small with limited funds. However from what I have seen, they have done some great work and apparently have laid the ground work for more to come. Kudos to all who are involved. I plan to make a contribution (money) as soon as I can. Since I am retired (e.g. RetiredMan in the cave) I have lots of time on my hands and about 25 years of IT experience. Consequently, if there is any way I can help out with beta testing, helping to solve problems, etc., let me know. I would be happy to do so.

Have a good day, week, year, all and Shorah to each of you.

I stand corrected. Now, I am trying to remember how to get to K'Veer the first time before getting the book. I know this is going off-topic but I am curious, now.

Hey Carl ..

Seems You're hooked real good now, eyh? TOC is interesting in the way You find new possibilities to Explore
this vast *universe*. Like Alien notes, You don't get to Kveer, You Relto out when falling down to the Descent!

But If You wanna try it out Look here >> it's a way to get down the Descent [by trying out & using coordinates]

As for K'veer .. I seem to remember Yeesha revarded *us* with the Link, when our Journey was done?

Yep, that is correct, you'll be back where all had once begun ...

As of your 'using coordinates to navigate' proposal and offer, Max, this is just the awesomeness what you're providing
us with on the GoSleepers forums in the "New Ways for Exploring More of URU .. And Mapping TOC" thread ... /thumbsup ... :P

I must say, I would have never made up my mind to figure such things out, and the way you delivered the explanation
in a very easy and comprehensible way for everyone I believe, this is absolutely commendable and outstanding as
everything you're all offering on the GoSleepers forums ... Thanks a lot for your efforts and goodwill, Max and all ... :D

Ummm.... The link provided sends me to a short discussion on the subject of an earthquake in Bulgaria..........

The last three links in this thread all point to the Bulgaria earthquake thread

I did some searching on the Great Shaft and learned that apparently, at one time, in some version, you could get there from one of the pods, Dereno, I think. I've looked in MOULa, Gehn and TOC and find nothing. If that link or path exists, it must be well hidden.

Hmm ... Very strange!
Edit: But yes, s*** happens and topics can disappear into
the black & endless cyberspace. So here's the text anew.
I reposted also the text below in GoSleepers Forum, Here>>

Spoiler:
This will hopefully be an ongoing Topic and I'd hope others can also contribute
about their Explorations

The TOC Team has now very generously given Us All opportuneties to to Explore
a lot more [so to speak] of the MOULa or URU Ages that has not been possible
before. So I though it could be useful with some basic Info reg that.

The D'ni Geographic mapping system is a wee bit complicated. But that is what we
have to rely on if we only use our KI's. It has the Great Zero as it's Central focal
point or Zero point, that Blinking Red dot high above the City. And the KI interface
provides us with coordinates about our whereabouts in the Ages. [or some of them
at least] The GZ coordinates consist of a Degree on a circle [Toran or Torantee],
the distance measured out from the GZ, [Spans] and the height relative to the GZ
[Spans]. These all are shown, when we're in the City of Ae'gure.
[a full circle measures 62500 'torantee'. one 'span' equivalents approx. 13.3 feet]

What the TOC Team seems to have succeeded in doing is to Convert the D'ni KI
Technology and adapt it to our kind of machinery, the PC or a Mac. And make it
compatible, so we can now more easily travel in the Ages, by given coordinate
commands. Very neat!

So here below is some basic guidlines on how to use it ...

The coordiantes used for moving [with the help of our PC or Mac] are now instead
called X, Y and Z. These letters relate to 3 different Axis. X and Y is always on
the horisontal [flat] plane. Z is the vertical Axis.

So simplyfied, X is for moving Sideways, Y is for moving Forward or Back and Z is
for movement Up or Down. Like in this Image below.

Image

These Axis or movement along them are here always measured in feet. And to make
use of the command you write slash, the Axis in question and a digit. So for example,
a command [/x 10] would move You 10 feet to Your right. [/x -10] would move You
10 feet to Your left.

When You Link into an Age, whatever it may be, with the Link Book You land at a Linking
point! This Point should always stay the same, and is the Zero Point of that Age from
where the /X/Y/Z/ coordinates are measured.

To give an example. The Image below from the Instance of City, the axis movements
drawn out. You Link In inside the Rock-thingy, thus I've taken a few steps outside
and am Not standing at the Zeropoint here. But the Axis always stay the same.
But take note. You need to test which side is [-] and which [+] For example, in the
Cleft, You Link In at the Sign, facing the crater. But if going back with /a [spawn back
to Zero Link In point] You face the other way!

Image

You should keep in mind, that that all of the Ages have a different kind of geographic structure
and height range. Some of the rock faces can be solid! Some are not and You fall through! The
Zero level [along the z axis] or levels above it may differ from place to place even within an Age.

So Always Explore with a bit of a caution!!

But You can always try and avoid 'falling through' the zero level [and Relto'ing out] by using the
/float command. This allows You to move around above zero level. Just type /float and then /z
and number of feet You wish to maintain above general zero level. To disable it, type /nofloat.

When using the float command You can not turn around freely. For that You need to use another
command, /rot [rotate] and a number of degrees. This command will by default apply the change
in z axis only. If You wish to rotate in any other direction, use /x or /y in the same manner.

That was just some simple guidelines. I'll later try and put up some Maps or sketches
from the different Ages, but just for a mere general guidance. For more Info You can
also have a peek Here>> .. In Not so Basic Commands.

Exploring has become now so very much more interesting!
So Put on Your Hiking Boots and get going!

As the admin of the Guild of Sleepers forum, I can state with all honesty that we DO NOT delete threads.
I have noticed that threads have "disappeared" and if I can find out why this happens I will put a stop to it.

Even if the thread you originally linked to was deleted, your link would not switch to a different thread,
you would simply get a message "page not found"

We recently had a database crash and lost some threads due to it,
perhaps the thread Max is thinking of was lost then, for which I can only apologise for.

I hope this clarifies the issue.

Thanks, Alien for your info.

I have finally made it to K'Veer and on to Myst. Here's a hint for those who don't know.
Spoiler:
You must complete Er'cana and Ahnonay in order to get the correct symbols for the cleft imager
I'm having fun.
