TOC-MO:UL legality

Shorah.

I've been meaning to ask this question for a while. From what I can understand, in order to make all the changes done on this shard (CoD, restored Kahlo Pub, etc.), the actual game content must be modified, and then distributed to clients. Unless you're using some other system, you're probably actually putting the modified files on the server, then letting clients download the content. If such is the case, are you aware that such actions are illegal because Cyan's content is still proprietary and not open sourced?

I don't mean to bring you down (in fact, I'd very much like it if additions such as these could be more abundant), but this is just a notification that until Cyan releases a proper license for content (see OpenUru.org thread), nobody is allowed to distribute Cyan content, even modified content. I thought you might like to know (if you're not already aware of this issue) since you seem committed to legality and respecting copyright (judging from this page).

That said, since Cyan hasn't done anything so far, I guess they don't really care about this issue, so it's probably okay if you keep doing it for now. :| I think there are ways of doing this legally, though, but you'd better ask the Writers about that. I've just been told that this practice (such as I see it), is not good.

EDIT: I have been told that the admins ARE aware of this issue, and that no action shall be taken since these features are greatly appreciated by the fans and Cyan hasn't complained.
