Sam, you're already having this discussion on the Mystonline forum,
and the general opinion of the replies so far is ... NO.

My reason for keeping the word "Hood" in TOC is simplicity.
If the TOC team change "Hood" to "Bevin" it's going to get confusing between MOULa and TOC.
There'll be people in MOULa referring to Bevins and people in TOC referring to Hoods.
While most of us will understand that TOC has Bevins and MOULa has Hoods,
imagine how confused newbies will be, given that the game is confusing enough already.

No Sam, keep it as "Hood" unless Cyan change it in MOULa.

MOULa has both Hoods and Bevins... The auto generated DRC Neighborhoods still get named Bevin. So, MOULa is already a bit confused in that department.

What I don't like about Bevin is the story aspect: Bevin is a specific district in D'ni. And this district exists only once. Also, it would be like saying "Mystler's Germany". Sounds strange.
Furthermore, Bevin is a so called Neighborhood. Kirel is one too. So, more Neighborhoods is more logical than more Bevins. (Please do not note that every Neighborhood would look like Bevin. That would make it even more confusing. ;) ) Last but not least, people always say "name it back" to Bevin but back in 2004 the original name was Hood, too. Since Uru Live was canceled and they released the offline expansion To D'ni, there was only one Neighborhood - they called it Bevin. Sadly, they kept this name in every upcoming online version until MOULa.

My 2 cents. ;)

I agree with Mystler.
Also, maybe this link can bring some light into the confusion: http://en.mystlore.com/wiki/Neighborhood

I have my own opinion and I think that the way it's being done here in TOC is the correct way. If the game generates the neighborhood, then it's a Bevin, If an explorer generates a neighborhood then it's a Hood. If anyone would like to belong to my Bevin DRC(1) then just contact me and I will help you join. This way you don't have to be a member of a Hood

I would like to point out this:

The reason behind this is that some neighborhood are Bevin-like...

and some others are Seret-like.

Seret, Bevin & Kirel the 3 D'ni's Neighborhoods. And since we aren't d'nis but explorers we cannot be member of such neighborhoods.

Yeah, what I meant was more that every (player created) hood looks the nearly the same (like Bevin) and that is not really realistic.
