To everyone who is crashing before the avatar selection: Please delete your TOS.txt, launch the game and try again.
If it still does not work, please zip up your log folder in "%LOCALAPPDATA%\The Open Cave" (you can copy that to the windows explorer address bar) and send it to
developer (AT) mystler (DOT) eu
along with some information on your Operating System, CPU, Graphics card and RAM.

Please also verify the following things:

• Your OS is up-to-date (run Windows Update)
• Your graphics driver is up-to-date (visit NVidia/AMD/etc. sites to check)
• You have the latest PhysX driver and PhysX legacy driver (here and here)
• You have the latest DirectX on your system (link)

Furthermore, try to run UruExplorer.exe with and without administrator and different compatibility settings. (Right click-->Properties-->Compatibility)

I sent you my Log. And nope i've tried everything you described - still doesn't work.

Hi, everyone ... I cannot get in without activating a compatibility mode anymore ...

This never happened to me by now ... who knows what you did to effect that necessity lol,
but ok, with compatibility set to Windows 7 (I have Win7 64bit) or others, but I didn't want
to go down if not needed lol, it works now perfectly ...

For me everything feels very stable, even the City of Dimensions ... I've had my fun to check
out many commands, except the 'kilight' command doesn't work anymore, as someone already
mentioned somewhere ... I can run and turn around and everything without problems, means
I can move about the CoD like on the rest of the shard easily and smoothly ... I can easily and
quickly change to other avatars, I can kick logs and stones on Relto easily, even many at the
same time etc. etc. and I've visited Tre'bivdil, of course ...

Yeah, that's what I've experienced so far ... I didn't intend to do a lot today ... after all the
reports of others I just wanted to try out if and how it all works and feels, and I have to say
this all feels really very good like on the other shards where I enjoyed those fixes already ...

I am running XP SP3. I don't have compatibility modes for WIN7 or Vista, only WIN 98, 95, 2000. The game hangs on startup just before the Avatar selection screen is displayed. Basically, I am experiencing the same thing others have reported. I am logged in as administrator. Is this the dreaded XP problem hinted at back in December?

Not able to get into the Open Cave at all. Goes through the "updating" screen for a minute or so -- and then just a black screen with that damn "program is doing something or other" hung up program circle...... Let it go like that for more than 15 minutes, and still nothing, nada, zip, zilch, etc. I am not at all computer-literate, so I have no idea where the hell any "TOS.txt" file is located or how to "zip up" anything to send to whoever.
I am wondering if the problem is somehow related to Cyan's MOUL:a servers being screwed............

I ran the compatibility mode on one computer with XP and a friend's computer with compatibility mode Windows 7 and they both work now.

I have an alternate solution I want to try asap. Please be patient and try again from time to time.
Alas, it's also my exam time and I cannot work on TOC the whole day (as I actually did yesterday).

Ah well ... not giving up just yet. As it all worked fine a few days back.

Anyways, I did a *nice 'n' shiney 'n' pristine* re-install of the lot [TOC] but still
I get the "bla-bla unexpected error ... " that now is a most expected error ...

EDIT: Right ... I added the avi-folder from MOULa to TOC [that had none]
and now I got an update. Then a black screen and a silhuette of an generic avvie.
Only contours visable. Nothing clickable. But I could walk a bit, then he started
to fall [like in Reltoing out], reached for the Link Book .. and Froze in mid-air!

[Game over ... ] Always expect the most unexpected ...

EDIT: At a second try [and trying to replicate the anomaly] ... back to the "bla-bla
unexpected error ... " again.
