New Problems in Museum

Post by calroger »

I am glad the new area in the museum has been opened up. However, I have encountered two problems between the stairs from the lower floor to the door and a place where you can walk through the wall and crash to Relto. Since the lighting is extremely poor in this area, it is understandably difficult to describe the exact location of these anomalies

Both of these problems are on the lower level of the museum:

1. Somewhere around the existing stairs and the door, there is a wall that is not solid. I walked through it and crashed to Relto.
2. Somehow, when trying to go through the door to the new stairs, I got stuck partially through and was unable to move. I had to link to Relto.

Now that this area is open for exploration, we seriously need some light in the lower level. I would settle right now for the fireflies from Eder Kemo! LOL! (I transported a swarm of them to my Relto without Problems)

Thanks
Cal

Light Sources in URU

Post by gabriml »

Try '/a' to avoid a panic link to Relto--quickly puts your avatar at the COD link-in point--saves a lot of time..

Use '/kilight 36000' to get a light on your wrist.

Also '/glow' gives you the firefly effect--does not work in COD. It works in Eder Gira but the controls and lights don't work unless you have real fire flies.

In COD '/fogcolor white' brightens up things generally until the next person links in.

You can also temporarily increase your gamma in setup.

Oh oh, dear TOC-Team. What have you done? ;)
Now, you see, why the DRC originally placed barriers everywhere, positioned pylons and wrote warnings.
I can only hope for you that you have a very, very good avatar liability insurance!

At calroger:
It is very entertaining to read which different dangers you encounter during your explorations. Hopefully it is clear to you when being on your way in the Cavern, it is mostly on own risk!!! ;) ;) ;)

We should leave some food and an alarm bell there, just in case someone gets stuck again. What about a patrol?

Oh, yeah, dearest TOC Team, what have you done ... You're causing so much fun around here ... haha ...

I actually met calroger on my way down there, and when he courageously went through that black hole
I followed him ending up in a wondrous place, please see those pictures posted below, and I already
wondered about his mysterious disappearance, cause I didn't see him on the other side, when I came
to the realization that he must've been swallowed by the void on his way through ...

I'm glad that you're back and well, calroger ... Next time take your maintainer suit, your goggles and a
torch with you and not to forget a care package ... The kilight command seems like a good idea as well ... :D

Many thanks again for those great expanded opportunities to explore and for the fun to our TOC team ...

Some pictures ... :)

Now explain to me...How can you dive in your Relto taking a journey through the backside staircase?

It's S-A-F-E...there's no hole in that place. There's no way to fall in your Relto going from the top level to the lower one. The only issue is some blinding in spots where the camera doesn't show your avatar.

A tip when exploring: make a marker game, place markers as you walk forward in the "unknown". Then... If you have to explore again, go in EDIT mode and follow your markers. If you get blind, go in 1st pers view, you will see the next markers ahead. If the last markers you placed was "wrong" don't reach it, just delete it and try to go forward in another direction.

Look at Janaba's pictures, she got in the lower level and took pictures there.

Another info about the Museum: The TOC team SOLIDIFIED the black plane surrounding the Museum meaning by that...there's almost no chance to die by falling in your Relto. You have been most likely blinded in some area, didn't know where you were and thought to be stuck so you reached your Relto...try my markers tip 2 paragraphs before ;) (now it's a bit technical but some explorers will understand: they went in the code, they identified the Scene Object "BlackPlane" in the MuseumInteriorPage prp and solidified it.)

The panic link to Relto was real. Now that I know how to get some light in there, I will try to determine the exact location where I fell through. It was not on the upper level. It was definitely somewhere between the lower level and the back door to the new stairway.

Janaba, when we met the other day, after I went through the door to the museum lower level, I couldn't see what I was doing so I linked back to Relto...MANUALLY.

I will do some more testing this evening to try to find the "hole".

I just went throught all the museum inside on the 2 floors, even jumped from the upper floor to the lower floor over the balustrade in the black zone...everything is solid from floor to ceiling. Being inside the museum, you cannot reach your Relto. If you still try from the outside, there's always a possibility to reach Relto if you do a misstep.

This area has been online since 2 years at least!!! It was there in TOC TPOTS at least since its beginning. It was online on TOC MOUL at the beginning too then they disabled the "easy" way but it was no secret we could go there quite easily without Filtik to reopen it officially this past week. I even think I saw that back in another shard they runned way back in the past.

Re: New Problems in Museum -- Hole

Post by calroger »

The hole I encountered is real. If you are on the museum lower level and start down the stairs to the rear door, jump up on the ledge on the right side. If you walk on the ledge toward the corner to the right of the door, you will fall through or get stuck. I have just done this numerous times in succession. In most cases, I fell through but in a couple cases, I got stuck in the wall.

Try it!

Cal

(edit) Here is a Ki photo of the location. This is the door leading from the museum lower level back stairs to the new stairs. The "hole" in the area circled in red.

(2nd edit) I just found a similar spot on the left side of the door.

Can I just say ... as an outside observer in this ... is for Annabelle and Cal to explore the museum together.
Then Cal can show Annabelle where the hole is.
To me, that seems the only way you two will settle this,
as "there is a hole" / "No there isn't" does not look good on the forum.

Just the opinion of an observer
